About this site:
This website is intended as a resource for students of the Holden School*. However, feel free to peruse even if you aren't a student. You will find assignments posted, fun links to check out, random musings on science, etc.
Here's a brief description of what the students are studying in this department:
Engineering/Technology
Our first year students are currently learning about the engineering design process and studying drafting/technical drawing techniques. We have begun investigating green design and new urbanism principles, while working on multi-use structure designs.
Biology
In Biology we are currently studying plant structures, chemical processes within plant cells, such as respiration and photosynthesis.
Physics
We are currently studying electric circuits and the concepts of electric charge, force, series and parallel circuits, polarity and many other fun topics. We have been using virtual lab experiments to measure voltage, amperage, and other circuit properties under various conditions.
Earth & Space
We are currently studying atmospheric composition and properties. To do this, we are studying weather phenomena, as well as labs creating micro-climates.
